Are You Burning Up Your Motor??

I sure tried to do that last week when I was cleaning up my office. I had half a dozen things I was trying to do at the same time with all of those stacks – copying, filing, shredding, sending emails, paying bills and creating more stacks. I thought I was doing great and I was in major accomplishment mode. And then, my daughter walks into the room and exclaims, “Mom, don’t you smell the smoke?!”

I was so involved with everything that I wasn’t listening, much less smelling, what was going on. I had just kept on filling the shredder, not listening to the motor slowing down or smelling the smoke. I hadn’t realized that it was full and the paper was going backwards, jamming up the blades. It took us over an hour to pull the shredded paper out of the blades. Luckily, I hadn’t burned up the motor, though it appeared as if I had tried really hard to do so!

What is the message in the experience? Slow down, be aware and listen to what is going on around you so YOU don’t try to burn up your own motor! The same message can be used when we consider our bodies. If you are totally aware of how your body feels and listening to the messages it is giving you, you can walk around in a body that is healthier, stronger and more vital.

So, before smoke comes out of YOUR ears and before you burn up YOUR motor, spend time each day balancing your energy and you will be able to let go of effort, struggle, and stress and make life easier by having more vitality and enthusiasm in your day. In addition, before and during an activity that requires focus and clarity, consider doing this….
With one hand cup the forehead and
With the other hand cup the back of the head at the base of the skull.

After my experience with the shredder, I spent more than a few minutes doing this simple energy movement before continuing with my office clean-up project. I got even more done AND didn’t create any more smoke!

Energy Tips for Clarity & Focus

1. Hold middle fingers - gently cup one at a time

2. Right hand - cup forehead so fingers are on the left side
Left hand - cup base of skull with fingers on the right side

(Then switch hands)

Autumn -- Time for a Boost!

Is your immune system ready for the upcoming challenges we've been hearing about? A strong immune system can help you "fight the battle" against all of those crazy flu and cold bugs that are out there in the world.

We can easily and effortlessly help our bodies be stronger by using the following very simple energy "movement". It will consistently remind your body to boost the immune system, "filter out the bad air", and ease dry or sore throat. Gently hold your fingertips on the energy balance points with a light gentle touch for several good breaths. (The general area is okay -- you don't need to be on a specific "point").

** With the right hand, cup the right shoulder, touching
where the neck and shoulder come together.

** With the left hand, hold the left chest just below the
collarbone.

** Switch the hands to "work" the other side.

Inflammation Means Heat Build-Up

We can energetically prepare our bodies to be better able to do what we want them to do. It's a given...summer is a season full of activity. Gardening (my love!), hiking, bicycling, lots of projects to get done. So, do the Daily Clean Your House Flow. And, during your activity, take an occasional break and do a couple of the steps. It will "remind" your body to stay in balance, to not create the blocks of energy.

And, if we end up having aches and pains......

Whether we're aching from over-doing or from actual injury or from chronic conditions (arthritis, fibromyalgia, tendonitis, etc.), the body is reacting to inflammation. Actually, a little inflammation can be good for your body...it can help it heal because it is bringing increased blood flow to the specific area. But when there is constant inflammation, the tissues are not able to repair themselves.

Where there's heat, there is also an accumulation of toxin. It is important to cool the area down and at the same time, release the toxin. Apply ice packs for short periods of time (10 minutes). Consider a homeopathic anti-inflammatory. And...do some self-help energy "flows".

Here are several easy to do self-help movements that will cool down the body and decrease the inflammation!
* Hold the left hand over the affected area and hold the right hand directly on top of the left.
* With one hand, hold the affected area and with the other hand, hold the outside of the knee.

Be patient....when the body is experiencing trauma (accumulation of blocked energy), it might take a few minutes to feel a difference.

Build Your Immunity!!

What people fear the most about the winter season is catching a cold or the flu. It's possible to aid your immune, endocrine and adrenal systems so that they can become stronger. Balancing your energy by placing your fingertips on designated energy points can strengthen those systems by releasing accumulated blocked energy. This gives your body a firm foundation and the help it needs to function in a state of wellness. When your body is in energetic balance, it will not hold on to blocked energy which is what creates symptoms and health "projects".

The following "energy movement" will help your body defend itself against colds and flu. It is especially helpful for relief from a sore throat. It will also help if your chest feels congested:

1. Cup your right shoulder with your right hand so your fingers are by the inside and upper corners of the shoulder blade.

2. Cup your left shoulder with your left hand and hold that same area of the back. This "movement" connects with your personal anti-biotic.

3. Next, while you continue to cup the left shoulder, move your right hand to your right chest just below the collarbone.

The Benefits of Daily Energy Work

Jumper cabling is gently cupping each thumb and finger and holding each for at least several good breaths. Jumper cabling is all about balancing the energy that is entering and exiting your body. When you jumper cable, it helps you to relax. It helps to open the breath. It helps to put emotion into perspective. Thus, it will balance how you feel in your world.

And....there's no such thing as too much self-help! So, do it as often as you want to throughout the day!

Then....to prevent shoulder and arm strain, cup one hand over your opposite shoulder and hold the hip area with the other hand. Do this prior to your activity, as well as during and when you have completed your activity.

You can help relieve the symptoms of allergies. The following energy flow is great for decreasing the head pressure that goes along with allergies, sinus congestion, colds, or headaches. Try this easy self-help acupressure flow to relieve that discomfort! (This may seem familiar...I gave it to you for relieving winter cold symptoms).

For right side pressure....

Left hand - hold fingers along left side of neck
Right hand - fingers "travel" down the right side of the "center line"
*At top of head close to "center line"
*Then just into the hairline to the right of that "center line"
*Then at center of forehead (to the right of the center line)
*Then at inside of right eyebrow
*Then at right cheekbone close to nostril
*Then just below right clavicle close to sternum

For left side pressure...switch hands

And....drink lots of water! Fluids help us flush out the toxins that accumulate in our bodies. And, of course, as we move into the hot summer months, water is even more important.
